April 21st. We'll have to wait until about a week before to know what's playing, but we can decide on that when the time comes. There is always something decent to watch. They usually group films into adult, or family oriented. Good times to come.

Is anyone eating before hand or should we also do kind fo a picnic? I know we always used to bring some grub to munch when I was a kid.

They don't like you to bring in food. They make most of their money from the concession stand. We usually get snacks and stuff there, but the lines to get cheeseburgers and dinner type food is always pretty long, so we eat before we go, then just snack while there. They have separate stands for snack stuff.

i would suggest getting there no later than 730, preferably before 7 because there will be a line to get in. saturdays are usually the most crowded. i'm not having any luck getting in touch with the theater to see about reserving a section for us. i've tried several times, so if we get there early, we can all get together and just talk jeeps for a while i guess. if you want to eat before, i'd suggest going to waxahachie, or somewhere off 45 and eat before hand. there's not much else out there.

also, the movies that they have on now will probably carry through for the next few weeks, so if everyone wants to check out what's showing now, you can get an idea of what will probably be on when we go.

What will we be watching? is everyone pretty much planning on going their own way once we get there, or can we agree on something entertaining for the whole family? I don't feel comfortable with my 4 and 6 year olds watching Grindhouse...

I'd like to see "meet the robinsons." It's gotten a lot of good ratings. I'm sure next week they'll pair it up with another "family friendly" movie. If anyone just wants to see something not 'family friendly', I don't see any reason not to, but I suspect we'll end up as a big group somewhere. My kids are 4 and 5, so I'm planning something they'll enjoy too. Everything I've ever seen at the drive in so far has been a kid type movie, and I've enjoyed going every time; even if some of the 'kid movies' weren't that great. It's not necessarily the movie that makes going to the drive in fun.

Just in case you missed my post in the RSVP section. Driving by the drive in today they are setting up a small carnival with rides and games. Should be a great night for a family outing. I'll be at the next outing for sure.

Just a little info on the place.

I looked at the listings it appears Meet the Robinsons and Are we done yet will be the kid friendly movies. My kids want to see Robinsons. They have been asking me to go see it since it came out.

Ticket prices are $6 for adult and $2 for 5-11. Under 5 is free.
They start at 8pm, gates open at 630pm.

They do not allow oustide food, drinks or coolers. The prices on their menu are pretty reasonable IMO.

The carnival setting up is part of the Galaxy Theater weekend festivities they are calling their "Spring Fling".

If you want to eat before arriving, about 2 miles South from the theater on I45 takes you to Ennis. There are all kinds of food right off of the interstate. Taco Bell, Chili's, Braums, McDonald's, DQ, Taco Cabana, IHOP, Chinese Buffet........

So what does everyone want to see? There will be two choices, as far as family friendly goes...Meet the Robinsons and Wild Hogs, or Are We Done Yet? and Blades of Glory.

When you pay, you are paying for one screen. In other words, you can't get up and go to another screen when the first one is over. You can obviously park in certain areas where you can see all 4 screens, but when you pay, you are paying for the two movies playing on that one screen. They'll tell you what station to tune your radio to when you arrive, depending on which screen you attend.

Honestly, I'm up for any of those two. I just need to know what everyone else is up for. My vote would be Robinsons and Hogs. I figure my kids (4 and 5) will be ok with a PG-13, but if anyone wants to leave after the first show, it can easily be done during the 10 or 15 minute intermission. If it happens like it usually does, my kids end up hooking up with other kids, and they could care less about the movie after that, since they're too busy playing. That's the beauty, no theater to be quiet and sit still in.

I plan to get there around 630. The weather is looking like it's really going to work out good for us. High around 80, lows in the 60s, mostly cloudy, no rain forecasted. Oh, and if you want to bring some snacks or something, they don't check. Get there early if you want to hit the snack bar. I usually bring some chips and a container of water for my kids. They usually hit the concession stand, but like I've said before, the food stand is pretty busy, while they have a few other snack bars that sell candy and drinks that aren't too bad.

That sounds good. My kids will love it! Saturday night is supposed to be gorgeous too, new is saying 79 and partly coudy during the day and 60 at night. put the top dow and maybe bring a sweater and enjoy Ma' Nature and a flic.

Look for the exit for 879. You can also take 35 south to Waxahachie. From 35, take 287 south. Exit 879, and take a nice country drive to the theater. Once you get to 45, you take a left up the southbound access road. You can't miss it. The entrance is loaded with lights. If you get there much after 7, there will probably be a line going down the access road. They will have all ticket booths open, and they work both sides of each booth, so if people aren't pulling up, and you see a vacant window, go around and pull up to it. They usually try to get people to pull up to the windows, but a lot of people aren't familiar with it. Also, it's CASH ONLY, so make sure to bring some.

If tomorrow night is anything like tonight, it won't get any better than that. I don't remember, but I don't recall seeing many previews, if any, so if you want an idea of when you'll be leaving, take the film run time, add about 7 or 8 minutes to the front, 10-15 minute intermission, and plan for it to start around 820 or so.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there. Hopefully it won't be the last, and you guys won't be throwing tomatoes at me for dragging you all out to the middle of nowhere.

One other thing...Do you think I'd be doing a disservice if I washed my Jeep tomorrow morning? It hasn't been washed since a few weeks before the last Gilmer trip. Sad, I know. :)

I tried several times to get in touch with the theater about getting a spot, but to no avail. I'm leaving in about 45 minutes, so I'll be there around 630 when they open. Look for my Jeep. Just get into the screen for Robinsons and Hogs.

I hope everyone had a good time. We sure did. I met even more great people. I hope you guys that went topless thawed out ok. It got a little breezy toward the end. I had to seal everything back up during intermission.

If anyone wants to go again, set a date and we'll be there.

Me and Kathy had a great time ..... It was a really nice night to go to the drive-in. It was a little breezey at the end but nothing a few more blankets next time won't solve. Next time we are going to throw a bunch of sleeping bags and padding in the back of the jeep .... with the backseat out it is actually a pretty nice place to lay back and watch the movie. We will be up for another night in the future too. Just let us know. As always ... it was nice seeing all the jeeps and jeepers and they family there.

The Event was definitely a winner ..... this might need to be added to the calender during the summer months ... maybe once a month(on non-run weekends) .... We (me & kathy) won't be able to make it every month ,,,, but that way maybe others that couldn't make it this time will have a time that they can make it. Beside it gives some of us a reason to get out of the house.

We had fun ...later ,,,
