ok...I have thought long and hard about posting this up but i figured that the benefits much outweighed the disadvantages....
My company is hosting a Retirement seminar in Arlington toward the end of this month. They are going to be discussing topics such as social security and effects of recent legislation, taxation, the "break-even" age, and when is a good time to commence your benefits.
I hope no one takes this post the wrong way. I am simply letting everyone know with the sincerest of interests and respect to the forum.

Nothing is to be sold. There will not be any money accepted what so ever. This is not a sales pitch. This is something that my company does on a regular basis to show our clients our appreciation and provide others a means to help some of their prospects see what Merrill Lynch is all about.
As i mentioned in the first post i am writing this with the sincerest of intentions and uptmst respect to the forum.

OK I got a coupla questions. I am 32 and the wife is 27.
1. I have a 401K sitting with a company that I left about 3 yrs ago. It's run by Hartford. In the last 12 months it made 23%, i'm very happy with that. But I have had many years of 5% returns. I stay pretty up on it and move the funds to what is making money.
Should I roll it to an IRA? I have heard that you should so you have more control, but I can move it around with hardly any Fees.
2. Since I left that company I haven't put any thing towards retirement. I think I need to open a Roth IRA, but don't know much about them. How much to open one? How much and how little can I put in every year? BLA...BLA...BLA
3. My wife has a 401K with her company that we put 17% of her income into it with about a 6% match from her company. So we are putting abit in with hers, just nothing for me right now. She is the Bread winner in the family.
Would this seminar do me any good or should I just sit down with an invester to help me out? We just moved to the area and I would like to find someone that won't bullsh-- me about what to do.
