View Full Version : Chrysler Parts Distribution Center Open House May 29

Got this in a pm today
I just registered today. I don't own a Jeep but plan on picking up an old Kaiser Jeep if that counts. A friend and I go play in the dirt with his XJ. Maybe we'll tag along on some of the LSJC adventures.
I am the President of the Cowtown Mopars Performance Team and have been active with them for more than 10 years. Since we're mostly muscle car guys doing drag races and shows we don't have many Jeeps in the club.
We have been presented with a very unique opportunity. I could really use your help getting people to show up.
I was approached by the manager of the Chrysler Parts Distribution Center in Carrollton. They are having an open house on Saturday, May 29 from 10 am to 2 pm. This has never been done before. This facility feeds parts to every dealership from New Orleans to Little Rock and all the way to New Mexico, including the entire state of Texas.
In an effort to reach out to the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram enthusiasts the manager at the PDC is having a show-n-shine type cruise-in at their facility. He took time out of his personal schedule to attend a meeting of our club's board of directs. He was there for an hour and a half discussing the event with us.
He wants enthusiasts of anything Chrysler related to come to the open house. His employees will be there to give tours of the facility. They will have their lunch room open as well as the conference room with an audio/visual presentation that the Cowtown Mopars club is putting together.
The PDC will have refreshments on hand and we will bring the Cowtown Mopars barbecue trailer so they can cook up some food.
We need EVERYTHING with a pentastar to show up. Can you bring some Jeeps? It doesn't matter if they're covered in trail rash, mud, dirt, or polished up mall cruisers. We'd love to have the Jeeps represented.
A write up of this event will go into the Mopar Magazine circulated by Chrysler at the dealership level.
This is EXACTLY what we need to get the corporate eyes open to what people really do with the vehicles. I can't express how important it is for us to make a good impression on the corporation and blow 'em away with such a short notice event. They have expressed a desire to make this an annual event. Since the marketing director for this region will be there we will have the opportunity to impress upon them the need to continue supporting the customers and enthusiasts.
The PDC is on Beltline Road between Josey and Webb Chapel in Carrollton, TX. You can't miss it since there's over 500 feet of frontage on Beltline.
Can you put this on your calendar? I'll try to show up to the Friday night meet. I went to the Sonic cruise listed for Saturday but nobody was there.
Thanks,
Kevin

Wow, that's a lot of words. I wish he would have PM'ed someone that would have taken the time to clean it up.
FACTS!
Chrysler Parts Distribution Center in Carrollton is having an open house on Saturday, May 29 from 10 am to 2 pm. In an effort to reach out to the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram enthusiasts like Ford does, the manager at the PDC is having a show-n-shine type cruise-in at the facility. They will have refreshments and barbecue. They want EVERYTHING with a pentastar to show up. Bring your Jeeps. It doesn't matter if they're covered in trail rash, mud, dirt, or a polished up mall crawler. Let's represented Jeeps.
A write up of this event will go into the Mopar Magazine. The PDC is on Beltline Road between Josey and Webb Chapel in Carrollton, TX. You can't miss it since there's over 500 feet of frontage on Beltline.

RC, sorry I was a little wordy. I didn't expect it to be cut-n-pasted verbatim but I guess that was the easiest way to do it.
I wanted to express how important this is to many of the local clubs. We have the chance to get some contact with the elusive corporate guys. Several events take place with various clubs each year that could benefit from a little corporate exposure and/or support.
I'm a working stiff like I'm sure most of you are. Since I happen to be in the auto industry I may see things a little differently than others.
If you guys don't mind, I'll have your logo added to the flier.
Should any of you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me at twinturbo440@aol.com.
Thanks for your help. Expect to see a little white stock Cherokee on small Mud Terrains lurking about.

Hippie, I hope it doesn't bring up any bad memories.
By what I understand, the employee turnover is almost 100%. Dan Clark is the PDC manager.
Show up whenever you can. It's not a formal show. Think of it as more of a cruise-in. We'll try to keep some food on the grill for the folks that show up a little later.

We can have a fund raiser!
Glen, You bring the Blazer. I'll bring my 20 lb sledge hammer. We can charge $2 for 3 whacks and $5 for 10 hits. We'll make lotsa money in no time!
The Cowtown Mopars just sent a check for $2000 to the Ronnie Sox Foundation. Maybe these funds can go to the Ronald McDonald House in Fort Worth or the Salvation Army toy drive we hold every year.

We're putting together a bunch of videos that will be played in the conference room during the event.
Do you guys have videos of rock crawling, mud slinging, or other fun to watch stuff involving your Jeeps?
If I can get my hands on some of that, I'll get it tossed into the mix. Right now we have plenty of drag racing videos but little else. You've got people committed to attending so I want to include you in the presentation.
Whaddya say? Where can I find the goods? You can email me links or files at twinturbo440@aol.com if it helps.

The folks at Mopar have decided to add a raffle for some really neat stuff from MOPAR to benefit the North Texas Food Bank. The more cans you bring the better your chances. I know with the quality of Mopar Clubs involved here we can fill a Dodge Ram but wouldn’t it be cool if they had to use one of the DDS tractor truck & trailer.
I know its short notice and a holiday weekend, but if you can or can’t make it at least let your friends and family know about it.
We will see ya there!

Bring the beat up Jeep! Some people believe that beat up Jeeps are cool, especially if it's trail rash. Beat up Cummins are, well, beat up Cummins. I should know. My D250 has 273,000 miles on it and the paint is in full retreat.
If I'm able to finish the rear AMG brake conversion (to match the front AMG brakes) on the hot rod, I'll have it out there as well. Maybe we can see who's ride is beat up more.
If you have a way of supporting the banner, bring it out. The Cowtown Mopars smoker has our club info all over it and it was going to be there.
Since the PDC has secured a grill for cooking we'll leave the club smoker at home.

Thanks guys! We couldn't have done it without you!
At last count, we had 118 vehicles show up. That's mighty impressive for a three week notice and a major holiday weekend. The Chrysler folks were blown away. I was blown away.
The only complaint I heard all day was that they didn't raffle off the Dodge girls.
At the end of the event, they corporate people were asking what they could do for the brand enthusiasts. The Business Manager said he would use all the photos and videos shot today to shame the corporate no-shows.
I personally tried to find each Chrysler employee working the event and thank them for their help. As soon as I introduced myself each one of them thanked me for helping put it all together. They had a great time.
They're already talking about putting it together again next year and invited the Cowtown Mopar Club's board of directors to join in a conference call for the after-action meeting.
We really opened the eyes of the corporation today. Who knows were it will lead? I do know that the folks involved today are pretty high up the corporate food chain and have respect for the brand enthusiasts now that they have seen who we are and what we're all about.
