Proper way to calculate pinion angle

I know with a CV shaft you're supposed to generally point the pinion at the output of the T-case.

Is there some forumla to actually measure this by (eg: output shaft angle = x, ds length = y, pinion angle = z) or is it strictly an eyeball thing and if it doesn't vibe, then you're good to go?

Have you checked out Stu's website: http://www.stu-offroad.com/axle/pinion/pinion-1.htm

You can get something similar to this at Lowes for less than $10:

Perfect - that's what I needed...and yes, I've got one of those little tools.

Thanks...I guess I can now retract my statement about the pimp hand. :lol2: haha

Yes it is, and I actually looked there but apparently didn't look hard enough.
