Talking Annual Jim Parker Memorial Run Clayton Apr 10,11 and the 12th Clayton Easter Weekend

Mike and Lenda Green are hosting a trip to Clayton Oklahoma in memory of Jim Parker.
The dates are April 10,11th and 12th. This run is geared for beginner wheelers. Come out for 3 day weekend.

    Wheeling will at GREEN Acres

Lenda and Mike will be leading the beginner/novice group. There goal is to get people started and into the sport. If anyone would like to step up and be leaders for the medium and hard trails please let us know so we have all levels covered.

We will camp on the == SOUTH side == of the Clayton Lake State park(there are 2 sections) . It is located about 7 miles south of Clayton,Oklahoma on hwy 271. Saturday night we have a big ole fire and POT LUCK starting at 630 pm. I think last year it was Chicken,Beans and cole slaw. Afterwards we sat around the camp fire and get to know each other. This is a family trip that is fun for all. Smiles are required for the weekend !!

Pack a lunch for Friday and Saturday or bring suppies to make some of the infamous manifold burritos. We will assemble them both morning before we take off. All entrance fee's to the4x4 park and State Park will be the responsibility of the driver. There is no fee for the run. Just bring something for the POT LUCK
Lenda and I will head up on Thursday sometime.

The beginner group will leave from behind David Williams(Slims shop) sharply at 9am No stragglers. Lenda and I should be there at 830 am both mornings. Sunday we will see who is left. If you are driving up from Dallas either morning, levae early in case you get a flat.

We are also thinking about making this a USED Book Drive. The Clayton Library is always looking for Books

    Mike Green

Headquarters will be at Clayton Lake State Park.Map of the park

Ok folks this is a pdf of Clayton lake state park. We are going to be camping in area 2 !
Lenda and I will be camped in the tear drop you see the futhurest out. So find the entrance. You take a right off 271 if you are coming from town. Imediately take left to area 2. You will go down a hill at the bottom on the right you will see the U shaped area. We usually camp here and at the top if you do camp down there you will be walking across the low water crossing and up the hill to the tear drop for the showers and festivities unless the lower shower has been reopened. As soon as you crest the hill Lenda and I will be on the right. There is a bunhc of area to camp up there. We will all have to cram in and share tent spots with RV's. Also the cabins are up in that area. Take a look at the PDF and ask questions.

    Trail Descriptions

    Green Acres Area
Wet n Wild (5):As the name implies this trail starts off fast and furious in a creek and provides lots of excitement.

Jeff's Ledges (5): Continues up the same creek where Wet n Wild leaves off and has several ledges.

Fence Line (3): A sweet little trail with some off camber hills ending in a sandy creek.

Black Sheep Blvd (X): Though the name implies it is a road, this is far from it. Only the strong will survive this one created by the Black Sheep!

8-point (4): Hold on tight and keep your hands and feet in the vehicle at all times. This trail is very technical with severe off cambers...pucker up!

Waterfall (4): A short trail up a couple of waterfalls, the action can be viewed from Walter's Mule Road.

Green Mamba (5+): A thrilling ride through creeks reminiscent of Snake Pit, some say it is even better!

Three Trail (4): A three trail rated a 4? Yes, this trail climbs up several fairly significant ledges on the way to the top of the mountain.

Watk in the Park (5): It is recommended that you have a winch to run this trail, although the trail sign has a slightly different spelling.

Cakewalk (5): The trail has two sections each of which provide some technical challenges.

Walter's Mule Road (3): This is the main road through the new property that hooks up with the roads to the fire tower and caves.

New Trail (2): This fairly mild trail follows an old fire access road

Van Alstvne Jeeps in Action (5): [/b]Running from the top of the mountain through a creek at the bottom and back up, this trail has numerous off camber turns and lots of excitement. [/color]

Back Side Loop (3 or 4): Begins at the top of the
mountain and goes to the bottom. A right at the Y begins a level 4 trail, a left begins a level 3 trail.

Slim's Slope (X): Not for the weak of heart, this trail can start in the middle and it is tough, start from the bottom and it is nuts.

Green Mamba Extension (X): A much more intense extension of the already difficult Green Mamba. Thrills are guaranteed.

Yes especially if you are leading

We plan to have all levels covered but need leaders for the medium and hard trails. Depending on participation we might even need a couple leaders for each level above Novice

(from the other half) Well I am not exactly a novice, but have never been to Clayton, and would like to start off fairly easy. Then may move to medium the next day. Thanks for putting this on each year. We can bring Hot Dogs. I will see what is else is needed as we get closer.

I am planning on this, but to see it already written ... you know me so well!

As for belly dragging, don't we all on the right sized rock?
