Cold and Hot weather are not best friends for batteries. Since my Jeep is not my daily driver, I always put it on a trickle charger. I have an Original Battery Tender that someone recommended to me many, many years ago. I went with them since I run an Optima Yellow Top in the Jeep. It is a deep cycle AGM type battery that the Battery Tender supports. They have newer ones than the old one that I have. Battery Tender® Plus 12V, 1.25 AMP Battery Charger ... I also have a double bank for the diesel, which is my daily driver. We all know with diesels, you have to warm up those glow plugs, which drains the battery, especially older ones. When it gets close to freezing, I put the battery tender on the truck as well. Battery Tender® 2-Bank 12V, 1.25 Amp Battery Charger
It has been a while since I looked at their prices. I do not remember paying as much as they cost today. What do you use? We are always looking for better products that maybe lesser expensive if these needs to be replaced.
My NOCO GENIUS10 supports AGM and keeps my Red Top fully charged
It is my understanding, trickle chargers do not work on AGM batteries. You are suppose to use a battery charge made for AGM's that do a high amp charge for a short period of time then let the battery cool. I run a 1500 Odyssey in my Jeep and two Odyssey in my Powerstroke. I use a Schumacher AGM charger for a charger
Thank you! Great information.
